"Unanswered messages" on eBay appears as 1, though answered twice

Hi, I understand that as a seller on eBay, I need to answer all enquiry within 24 hours. My situation is this, an enquiry came in and I answered within an hour. Then the person replied "Thank you" and I answered "You're welcome", still within an hour. Since then, my "Unanswered messages" always has "1". I answered again, this time "You are welcome", but the "1" is still there. Checked the "Sent" box, both my replies are there. In fact, three replies are all there. Should I ignore this "1" or will this unanswered messages affects my performance and my listings? Thank you very much in helping me with this doubt. Regards, Chee Han

Hi Chee Han,
eBay does not count message respond into the performance metric. The negative effect on performance usually from Transaction defect rate. Though, your respond time to buyer will indirectly impact the decision of purchasing of your customer.
